This post marked the debut of The Autism Deficiency Society of North America.  I was trying to find a way to discuss autism that was focused on strengths and opportunities rather than on deficits and pathology.

I’m not sure how I settled on the 1950’s or 1960’s magazine ad as the proper style for the ADS posts.  But something about the beige backgrounds and the earnest 1950’s scientists in their lab coats works for me.
